A really cute one!
Cons:
Often with this show I don't have any real complaints I just have a note for a missed opportunity... this week it's that I wanted something to happen in the restaurant that Teddy would have to be "in charge" of. Or even better, nothing happens until he leaves to go help with the broken door, and then the rando customer is sitting there and a whole crowd of people comes in and he takes up the mantle to run things in Bob and Teddy's absence. I don't know, could have been funny to see something come of all that.
Pros:
Our main plot features Linda working with Nat the limo driver on her road rage. She is a difficult client for Nat, who ultimately fakes a road rage incident of her own to put Linda into a terrified mindset and help her achieve her breakthrough about her anger. I love that there was an actual psychological explanation behind Linda's road rage, that it went back to her mom modeling that kind of ubiquitous anger for her as she was growing up. And I also love the true silliness of Nat having this elaborate plan to help Linda, and then at the end we find out that Linda received a C grade on the course, barely squeaking through.
The subplot features the kids taking advantage of Linda's absence in the afternoons to play a simple and yet forbidden game: mattress surfing down the stairs. When Bob finds out, he is persuaded to give it a try himself, and loves it. He and the kids then all keep the secret from Linda about their shenanigans, leading to a broken front door that Teddy has to hastily repair before Linda gets home. I love that the button on this plot is that they show Linda the fun of mattress sliding as well, to cheer her up after her stresses.
One of the great things about this show is that usually if there are secrets or conflicts, still everything is done in a generous way, with a lot of heart and low stakes. So, keeping the secret from Linda about the mattress game isn't because Linda will be furious and punish them, just that the kids know they'll be forbidden. And then in the end, they tell their mom anyway, because they want her to join in with the family game. It's so sweet!
That's all for this one. No complaints, a lovely time all around.
9/10
