Bob's Burgers: Colon-ly the Dronely (15x03)

A very fun episode!

Cons:

I think the kids' plot thread was my least favorite, though it had some good things too! For me, there's maybe a bit of repetitiveness with Louise's character that has been grating on me in recent seasons. I've seen a lot of stories now where Louise has an idea, she's being selfish about it, and then she decides to concede for the good of the group, because she does actually have a heart after all. It's a cute story, but sometimes I want Louise to lean in and be a lot more chaotic than she ends up being.

Pros:

That said, I did like seeing more of the school gang, and it's cute how the other kids did all follow along with Louise's plan until she finally releases them from the obligation. They still accomplish their stated goal of messing with the drone footage of the school, but they also get to do the silly fun thing they want to do as kids. I loved the Belcher children coming home and immediately showing it to their parents, knowing they won't get in trouble even though they were messing with something they shouldn't have been.

Teddy is making some real progress with Kathleen, aww! Good for him! I loved this story, the list of all the things he was doing to make Kathleen comfortable, and then the constant escalation of issues on his mission to do this simple nice favor for the girl he likes. First there's his eclectic collection of injuries, then there's Linda speeding and getting pulled over by a cop, then the second cop getting involved, and they're racing against the clock so Teddy can do Kathleen this favor, instead of Kathleen's cousin... it was all delightfully wacky and just so sweet that Teddy had such a good friend to rely upon to make this small dream come true!

And then finally, we have Bob's subplot. He uses some different shampoo that makes his hair incredibly luscious. Turns out, Linda found the shampoo out by the dumpsters, and as the episode progresses, we learn that it's Mort's dumpster where Linda sometimes finds the left over things that families leave for their deceased loved ones to help get them ready for their funerals. So, when a family of three adult children and their dad come in and smell something familiar in the restaurant...

This was such an odd premise but it ended up being so, so sweet! Basically, the family isn't weirded out or angry that Bob ended up wearing their dead mother's shampoo. They're actually touched by the opportunity to smell her familiar smell one final time. It's an undeniably comical scenario, highlighted by a man walking by the outside of the restaurant and seeing a group of people sniffing a man's head, but I love that Bob was able, through pure happenstance, to offer them an extra bit of closure. Adorable!

8/10
