Bob's Burgers: Til Death Do Us Art (16x02)

This one was quite fun!

Cons:

I honestly could have used more shenanigans from the kids inside of the art show. It was funny to watch Louise play with the dart gun and miss the point of the art, but Gene and Tina just kind of wandered around and were weirded out by some of the odd displays. They could have gotten into some more mischief, I think!

Pros:

Gayle is the perfect kind of annoying-on-purpose character that this show often does so well. I liked her journey in this one, her oversharing at the dinner table, her jealousy of the domestic intimacy of the Belchers, her wild idea to take a shortcut towards that intimacy, and then ultimately her realization that she's enough for herself. She doesn't have to find a man right now, or ever, honestly, to be content in her own life! It might seem like a basic and kind of silly thing, but honestly let me tell ya, it's all too rare to see any character on any show come to a conclusion like this. As a single 32-year-old with no plans of being partnered, I do like to see representation of other people finding joy in that experience! Not to take it too seriously!

I was also moved by Linda's protective worry for her sister. While Bob and the kids and Teddy were all feeling pretty shrug-worthy about the whole prospect of Gayle's sudden marriage, Linda knew that her sister wasn't doing this for the right reasons and she didn't want her to have to go through that. She understands that Gayle can't force her way into the relationship situation that Linda herself finds her in, and that it wouldn't even make her happy if she could.

Some comedy highlights of this one for me would be Bob trapped in the door art display, trying to open the right one to find Linda, Teddy so desperate to be allowed to officiate that he sniffs the rubber balls that have been rubbed on the men's feet, the art display of the singing woman whose hair is caught in a tree, and Tina's bland reaction to it, and the entire family roasting Bob for his disgusting toenail situation.
