Bob's Burgers: The Place Beyond the Pinecones (15x14)

A good summer vibes episode as things start heating up!

Cons:

I wish Tina had gotten to spend a bit more time with the people in her troop, I feel like she splintered off so quickly and was only with the two girls from the rival troop! That's a small detail, it's just that since we're in this environment with these characters, I could have used even more!

Pros:

This was such a fun Tina-centric episode! I loved the golden pinecone, how Tina found it by pure happenstance, carried it around with her, and later uses it as a means of escape for her and the two girls from Troop 257. I loved the hilarious spookiness of the camp for good girls, with medieval-seeming punishments for the poor residents. And the camp counselors, their awkward presentation of the game and its prize, and their relief in the end that nobody ended up dead after getting lost in the woods!

Something I really love about Tina as a character is that while she's socially awkward and naive, a truly weird kid, she's also very brave and wants to reach out and connect with people and participate in life. Her dedication to catching the other troop cheating leads her into trouble, but in the end she does the right thing in going back for them.

We don't get much of anything from the rest of the Belchers this week, but I liked their little opening scene, the whole family coming out to say bye to Tina. Linda being surprised that Tina doesn't learn to poop in the woods was really funny - she thought her daughter was getting a real education out there! I also liked her misunderstanding and mispronunciation of "orienteering".

That's all for now!

8/10
