Cons:
If one of the two of them was going to go through with the open marriage thing, I wish it had been Teddy with hot doctor lady Cass. Instead it's Owen and friend-of-sister who had a crush on him when they were kids. And I'm already tired thinking about where this is going - Teddy will say she doesn't want the open marriage thing, Owen will agree but the fact that he had sex with someone else will cause insecurities and issues... yawn. I want it to just work for them, I want it to be a good idea.
Blue and Molly breaking up is like... on the one hand, good, they were boring, but it also feels like a lot of this story-line was kind of wasted and pointless now? I want to see Blue and Jules start something up again, honestly.
Pros:
I liked Jo having a plot thread that doesn't have anything to do with Link, but instead with her irritation with her co-resident who steals her surgeries under the guise of "helping out." Jo finds the energy to snap at him by the end, which was fun. I like this young doofus doctor dude, he's annoying but in an entertaining way.
We see Simone questioning Amelia in the OR because of Kwan's worries for Molly, but Amelia is tough but firm with her and gets her on the right track. Meanwhile, Jules gets to lead on a surgery which is really exciting! I liked the scene at the end at Joe's Bar with the four young doctors hanging out. They really had that OG intern class vibe in that scene, all of them caught up in their own lives but also reacting to each other's pain, buying drinks for Blue... I loved Jules's casual arm around Adams and Kwan, that was lovely.
Miranda Baily gets MVP for me in this episode, I just thought she was so bad-ass and also adorable, so nervous for her presentation at the conference. She really leans on Teddy to be there for her and it reminded me of real-life co-worker relationships where it's like... I'm not sure Bailey and Teddy are super close friends outside of work, but in this environment, Bailey knows she can trust her to be there for her and help her out with the presentation. Also her ordering a margherita flatbread with side salad as room service was a charming detail, I don't know why but that really tickled me.
Ben's story this season is intriguing to me, I don't really know where we're going with it so far I guess. He continually oversteps his bounds and asserts himself as someone with more experience, but so far he's mostly been right. I wonder if the Teddy vs. Ben thing will continue as we finish up the season.
The news has hit that Grey's has been renewed for a 22nd season - not that I'm surprised, but still, wow! That's a lot of show. I'll be here covering it 'til the bitter end, I'm very sure.
7/10
